I like the cheery colours here |
I just realized I've not blogged for quite some time being busy with recruiting recruiters for my recruitment business (got your tongue twisted there? LOL) and planning a few upcoming events plus attending the Young Corporate Entrepreneur event and BFM Breakaway event this week.
I'm a little more free this weekend and thought I'd better get out of my shell and visit the Art Expo (it's 9th edition) again this year. I don't think I can visit Kakiseni though, which is sad.
You would probably know that the haze is also back in the Klang Valley but I braved the bad air and drove myself to
Matrade after a hearty breakfast of two Roti Canai and one teh tarik with my hubby.

Left: On a perfectly clear day in Brickfields, KL Right: Hazy days are back |
It wasn't crowded which I like so I had the time to admire the pieces, pretend I know everything about art and scoff at some of the pieces that looked just like smeared paint.
Some 2,000 works by approximately 400 artists are represented by 70 participating art galleries / groups from 30 countries at the show.
Most of the biggest names in Malaysian art are represented by reputable local galleries, which form the largest exhibitor group. Neighbouring country Singapore forms the second largest bandwagon, with participation from as many as 13 galleries.
Below are some of my favourite pieces.
|
Not quite my favourite but the 3D thing is cute |
|
I usually don't like nudes but I didn't find this one too vulgar. I liked the style and colours.

ReplyDeleteDon't tell him now! It ended yesterday but you can go the Kakiseni Festival happening at Pavilion KL till 16th Sept :)
DeleteI love visiting art expos, exhibitions, festivals but you certainly are very dedicated with captioning all your photos so nicely. I wouldn't have the patience, or knowledge.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliment! It's easy captioning the artwork as I took photos of the descriptions heheh! I've not much art knowledge either and only know the basics!
DeleteI'm planning to go there at first but because of haze that make me sneeze for whole day.....then i forced to cancel the original plan, luckily I can see part of it from your blog...thanks
ReplyDeleteYes! The haze is horrible! It feels like I'm smoking as I write this comment
DeleteThe artworks were so creative. Some buyers really willing to paid more for the best work done.
ReplyDeleteThe ones with the higher price tags are by artists who have already created a name for themselves. The value will go up in price over the years so it's a good idea to invest in art when you know the artist is established
Deletenice, the pieces are really unique and cool, i'm gonna share this post with my sis who's also an artist.
ReplyDeleteYou're an artist too, Leona! I've seen your work!
DeleteI like attending art expo and exhibits. I wish I could attend one here in Malaysia someday. Love the artworks btw.
ReplyDeleteIt's even better when entrance is free :)

Deletenice arts expo, wow look at the price too. I like the photo of art in post, so many to see and so unique each of them.
ReplyDeleteThe price tags ARE scary but worth it if you're looking at them investment-wise
DeleteSo many artistic people. I envy their talents to be able to create such amazing artworks. Will try to make my way there before the 16th of Sept, need to see these with my own eyes :p
ReplyDeleteAwww...the Art Expo is over but you can track the artists you like down by looking at their respective websites. The pieces usually travel globally
