10 Reasons NOT to visit Malaysia

Being a born and bred Malaysian, I sometimes take my country for granted.
As mentioned in this post, my parents (usually my mom's initiative) used to
organize family trips during the school holidays.

I have to say, there are so many beautiful sites I've not had the chance
to visit yet and I hope to do so soon.

But what's with the title then? Well, thanks to a writer who decided to use
a similar title, I was curious to learn why he felt that way only to discover
that he was just being cheeky.

pretty much sums up the best about Malaysia in his story
which I've included below. I couldn't have written it better myself.
Read on to find out why you should NEVER visit Malaysia. Oops, I meant absolutely SHOULD!

1. MALAYSIA HAS THE WORST BEACHES. EVER.

Now that you’ve seen the evidence for yourself you’ll have probably realised that
I made a HUGE mistake in the title of this post. It should read: 10 reasons why
 you SHOULD absolutely visit Malaysia.
There is so much beauty, culture and warmth here (the warmth is literal btw, I’m
talking over 30 celcius everyday) that if you are in the neighbourhood, you would be
doing yourself an injustice not to stop over and even if you aren’t, Malaysia has some
of the best islands and beaches in the world and the life underwater is just spectacular.
Scuba divers have known about Malaysia forever but the rest of you probably haven’t.
It’s not just about the island’s and beaches however, (though admittedly they are
our  favourites) the first places we fell in love with were PenangMalacca and
even Kuala Lumpur.

3 OTHER THINGS TO DO IN MALAYSIA

Most Malaysians will just say "Nothing to do la" and end up visiting shopping malls on the weekends but really there is lots to do if you decide the have a weekend getaway.

1. Climb Mount Kinabalu, Sabah

I have to admit, I'm afraid of how tough it is to climb such heights but the breathtaking
view is said to make it all worth it.

Mount Kinabalu is the most dramatic feature in Sabah and the tallest peak between the Himalayas & the New Guinea. Towering at 4,095 metres (13,435 feet), Mount Kinabalu exerts a magical quality that is both indescribable and unbelievable. The granite peaks are constantly veiled in wisps of clouds which sometimes resemble a graceful woman peeping coyly from behind the veil. At times during a clear day, the summit reveals a distinct glacier carved pinnacles, rising from the smooth granite dome, exuberating tranquility and peacefulness.

2. Caving at Mulu Caves, Sarawak

Gunung Mulu National Park near Miri, Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that encompasses caves and karst formations in a mountainous equatorial
rainforest setting.

3. Enjoy tea and scones at Cameron Highlands

You’ve been sweating through the jungles, the beaches and the lowlands of Malaysia for weeks now. Another sticky day will make your clothes unwearable. Another sweaty night and
you’ll lose the ability to sleep. We grant you a reprieve. Come to the Cameron Highlands.
This is Malaysia’s most extensive hill station, an alpinescape of blue peaks, green humps,
fuzzy tea plantations, small towns and white waterfalls cutting throughout. Trekking,
tea tasting and visiting local agrotourism sites is the done thing here. And best of all, with an altitude of 1300m to 1829m, the temperature rarely drops below 10°C or climbs above 21°C; practically cool enough to make you forget you’re in Malaysia.

Though the Cameron Highlands – the colloquial name for the area that roughly encompasses the towns of Kampung Raja, Brinchang, Tanah Rata, Ringlet and environs – lie in Pahang, they’re accessed from Perak.

Cameron Highlands is a really popular destination during the school holidays so plan well and
avoid this period.

A more laid back alternative to Cameron Highlands is Fraser's Hill.

Obviously, there is so much to do in Malaysia and more options can be found here.
