Sri Lanka Day 5- Weligama

We didn't want to do anything touristy like whale watching or temple visiting so we just relaxed and took a toot toot to Weligama town to have breakfast and stroll.

The streets felt just like how the streets in India are- dusty and busy- with food stalls selling local delicacies. We found a halal restaurant crowded with the locals and had really good "roti canai" and tea at really good prices.

A Pakistani boy who was eating there approached us as he recognized his fellowman in us. He was studying in Sri Lanka. People are generally friendly and curious about us.

A beautiful, sunny day

A nice spot to sit and read

Waiting in line for yummy breakfast

In Sri Lanka, they wrap their plates with paper for easy disposal and easy cleaning

Surprisingly for a country known for their tea industry, not many restaurants serve milk tea with their local tea. This was one of those moments that they did

Sri Lanka is known for its gems too and though we had no intention to buy any, we just had to have a look

We'd rather spend on food

It started to rain when we got back to the hotel but cleared up for us to have an evening stroll on the beach

Weligama is a surfer's paradise with many instructors teaching tourists how to surf

We had packed food for dinner so that we didn't have to go to town again. Sadly, for a 5 Star hotel, Marriott Weligama wasn't very hospitable when we asked for our meals to be heated up in the microwave. They lent us some plates and utensils which was useful.

However, as paying Marriott members, I would have appreciated better service WITH at least breakfast included.

I still enjoyed myself there. Nothing beats a vacation by the sea.
