I've heard about how beautiful
Sri Lanka is and I got the chance to visit when hubby's cousin decided to have a destination wedding at a bungalow in Bentota, last December.
Hubby had to complete some work so I accompanied his parents a day before he left. We took Malindo Air for the 3.5 hour flight from Kuala Lumpur to Colombo. We had meals and in-flight entertainment which was good.
When we arrived at the airport, his mum and my check-in luggage hadn't arrived. Mind you, all our wedding accessories and outfits were in there and we had nothing to wear except what we had on. The wedding was to be held on the 3rd day that we were there. I was glad we had decided to arrive two days earlier.
Family friends saw us waiting for updates from the unhelpful airport personnel and waited with us for more than an hour. There was no one there who could tell us what we were to do. We were asked to go from one person to the next and back to the first counter that we went to and finally asked to fill a form. They also took my MIL's luggage key so that they could check it when they found it.
We then got an Airport van to take us to Bentota where were to put up two nights at
Centara Ceysands.
We were hungry as it was about noon and we found a nice restaurant selling delicious Indian fare such as vade and thosais on the way to Bentota, 1.5 hours ride away.
Here's my FIL and Uncle S, our family friend checking out the sweet coconuts.

Calls to the airport about our luggage went unanswered so it looks like MIL & I will be wearing the same outfit tomorrow!

There's not much activity around Ceysands and you had to take a toot toot to get into Bentota town so we decided to spend the first night hanging around the hotel.

We had breakfast at the hotel restaurant- Cafe Bem which served both local and international cuisine |

We checked out of Centara Ceysands and moved to Club Villa where the wedding was to be held.

The bathroom is huuuuge. This photo doesn't do it justice. The bath amenities are made in Sri Lanka and smells heavenly |
It's a gorgeous villa with a main building leading to smaller villas and the pool and huge garden with a train track running across the back. You heard right! The trains cross the backyard!
The Welcome Dinner was held at Centara so after checking in at the Villa, getting no positive response from the airport and a short rest, we took a van back to the Centara boat dock.
During dinner, I received a call from someone delivering our luggage. He had arrived at Centara where we were!!! What a relief after wearing stale clothings for 2 whole days!
Hubby will be arriving from the airport tonight and reaching at about 2am in the morning.
