As a teenager, the number one place for my friends to hang out on weekends was the Sunway Lagoon Water Park. They loved going on crazy rollercoaster rides and getting wet going down water chutes and enjoying the wave pool. Me? I'd rather spend my day reading or watching movies at home with dad!
When I was invited to check out the new Austin Heights Water & Adventure Park, I was a little apprehensive but I'm glad I went! It is just a five-minute ride away from the Austin Heights Golf & Hotel Resort where you can play a round of golf at the 6165 meter 18-hole championship golf course.
You can read more about the hotel and golf course HERE.
The Austin Heights Water & Adventure park is great even for people who, like me, rather stay dry unless I'm at a beach!
For those of you who love water and adventure, this place won't disappoint you as they have something for everyone.
Let's start with the Water Park. This area has 14, (yes 14!) attractions within it. For toddlers who are still afraid to go on rides and in the big pool, they can enjoy the "Hola-Flora" TOTs Play where they get squirted by giant flora showers and puddles.
For kids aged 2-12, they have the Splash World, a water playground for them to play hide and seek in and let their imaginations go wild in their own little worlds.
Supersurf comprises of 6 high-speed racing lanes which will get your heart racing especially if you decide to go the super sonic way by going down head first!
Yellow Wall is an extra wide body slide which ensures that your tube glides left and right at high speeds before spitting you out in the end.
Rainbow Hood twists and turns in the dark before unhurling you into the Lazy River, dazed and confused.
G-Force Alley (is this name enough to scare anyone off or what?) is where you sit on an air tube that will see you sliding down the snake-like curves, lifting you in the air at times and crashing before the grand G-Force finale. Uphill Battle is similar where you slide past the belly of the hill at top speeds.
Racer Bowl- if you ever wondered what it was like to twirl into a black spiral where visibility is zilch, this is the ride for you!
For the not-so-adventurous, you are not forgotten. You can listen to techno music ( not my kind of music, but ok) at the Summer Breeze Bar where charming and entertaining bartenders helping to quench your thirst.
I didn't notice any bartenders when I was there but again, I'm short-sighted. With drinks come food and you can book your own BBQ host at the Cabana BBQ area. If BBQ isn't your thing, opt for the Mini Food Carts for quick bites.
If the squills of laughter have tempted you enough to rejoin in the fun, you can start slow at the Austin Wave Pool and Lazy River before making you way to the heart-pumping water rides.
What about the Adventure Park? There is an Indoor and Outdoor Adventure Park with 51 obstacles where you can pretend to be Angelina Jolie in Tomb Raider or Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones. Here, you will step gingerly across swooden planks and structures suspended 20-30 feet above the ground and swing through the air on the zipline.
This adventure park features rope and steel cable suspension structures that link through the indoor entrance area to the open area of the Water Park.
Besides the adrenaline-rush inducing Water and Adventure Park, there is also a Sports and Leisure Park where you can bounce yourself to fitness at Jumpstreet, reenact scenes from Bambi at the ice skating ring and pretend to be a Fast & Furious rider at the Drift Car circuit.
In the video below, you can see the drift car track below the Indoor Adventure Park.
So now that you've read all about the Austin Water and Adventure Park, you no longer need to wonder where to go or what to do during your next holiday in Johor Bahru, Malaysia! You can start plotting your route at the Austin Heights Adventure and Water Park HERE
